First Grade Technology Curriculum

A major goal for first grade students is to develop the skill to work independently and in small groups. The first grade student is gaining organizational skills, responsibility and developing new ways to learn.

Technical Awareness/Fundamentals

Identify the following : computer, screen, keyboard, mouse, CD-ROM

Demonstrate proper care of hardware and software

Follow oral directions to properly startup and shut down a computer

Demonstrate knowledge of age appropriate computer terminology

Demonstrate the ability to access programs from student work folder

Locate letters and numbers on the keyboard in conjunction with the operation of phonics and mathematics programs

Locate and understand the use of the arrow, delete, and return keys

Select items from the pull down menu

Use proper posture when using a computer

 

Instructional Application of Technology

Utilize computers and software as a means to expand learning

Create a cooperative learning environment

Utilize computers to create a motivational environment for learning

 

Interact with a variety of software programs:

-Picture Phonics -Super Phonics -Penny Panda

 Windows on Science(Science/Health) -Kid Pix -Kid Works
